About Us

About Us

Ilkley & District Good Neighbours was established in the 1970s and is a local charity operating a range of social and practical schemes, constantly striving to improve the lives of the most vulnerable people in the district. We believe in the power of community action to make a difference in people’s daily lives. Each of our schemes is supported by a wonderful team of volunteers who are willing to help others around them. We operate from offices in Riddings Hall, Riddings Road, Ilkley.

Aims and Objectives

Our aim is to try to help people in a personal and friendly way. We provide free services to older, disabled and vulnerable people who require our assistance in Ilkley, Addingham and Burley In Wharfedale.  If you are a resident of Menston then we highly recommend Menston Cares.

Our schemes are all designed to relieve isolation, promote economic well-being and maintain independence and stronger mental health.

Royal Recognition

In 2016 the charity was honoured to receive The Duke of York Community Initiative Award. This recognition is awarded to organisations across the county for their valuable service to the community. The organisers make the award to organisations that show real value to the community, are well run, and are an inspiration to others.

Following their visit to Ilkley & District Good Neighbours, assessors from the Duke of York’s Community Initiative described Ilkley & District Good Neighbours as: “A quintessential community support organisation”.
