Hello everyone
I hope we are all keeping well. I made the most of the good weather when we had it and walked up to the Cow and Calf – we do live in a beautiful area! And talking of our lovely countryside, there is a new TV show out soon starring Derek Jacobi called “Say Your Prayers” which was filmed in Ilkley. It was filmed in early 2018 with Ilkley’s real-life annual literature festival becoming a fictional event at which a murder takes place. Unfortunately, I don’t think it is on normal TV but if you have Sky/some of the other online video resources you can get it. A bit more information, and the trailer, can be found here — https://smarturl.it/ sayyourprayers

I have been chatting to Josephine and Becky, two of the lovely people at Worth Connecting. Worth Connecting are a fabulous local charity who help people feel more comfortable using their electronic devices (e.g. ipad, laptop etc.). They now give advice and help over the telephone and work with you to help you achieve what you want to do.In this time of Covid-19 and restrictions on who we can meet and what we can do, being able to use your electronic device can be an absolute lifeline. It can be a source of entertainment, a way of keeping in touch with friends and family, you can even use it to continue being involved with community groups such as choirs or local churches who have also had to adapt with the times.
Worth Connecting can help you if you are a total beginner or if you have a specific goal in mind, e.g. you want help using the video calls such as Zoom or facetime or you would like help setting up online shopping. If you would like help, give them a call on 01274 449660 or have a look at their website – https://www.carersresource. org/worth-connecting/

During June and July 2020, our Worth Connecting project will help people over 55 who are keen to use digital devices during the coronavirus crisis. We can provide telephone support on use of tablets, apps and websites, or anything else that helps you get online. www.carersresource.org

Castle Yard Arts Festival – 10 & 11 October
Ilkley Arts (who have run the Ilkley Art Trail in the past) were hoping to hold a new event called the Castle Yard Arts Festival in and around the Manor House, its courtyard and the Ilkley Arts Studio. Unfortunately, Covid-19 and the restrictions have meant that they have had to postpone this face-to-face event for now, but rather than miss out they are bringing it to you online instead.
Further information, including a programme of events for the festival, will be available on their website at https://www.ilkleyarts.org/ castle-yard-arts-festival/. The online festival means you will be able to explore the artwork from artists shown in their own homes and studios, see demonstrations of artists at work and chat to them online.

Clark Foley Centre
I know a lot of our Ilkley Good Neighbour’s clients have enjoyed popping to the Clark Foley since it opened. I always bump into a few people (well, from a social distance) when there and its lovely to see some familiar faces. Their café is open and has some tasty hot meals available. Social distancing and corona virus precautious in place.Take care of yourselves.
Kind regards
Hannah Walton
